  1. I guess we should be careful about naming this statue as of Bikramaditya. In the temple complex itself, this icon is named ad of Dipankar Buddha. But as legend says, it is icon of the Lichhavi King who was beheaded by his own son. The King is said to had ordered his own son to do so so that water could flow from the stone water spout the king had established on the south of where Narayanhiti palace is now. But it is not King Bikramaditya, a Lichhavi King. There is a big confusion created by some vested interest people who are against Nepal Sambat by citing this icon as of Bikramaditya thereby justifying their coveted interest of prooving Bikram Sambat as the older era in Nepal. Since there is no proof yet that Bikramaditya was a king of Nepal, we should be careful and should not say this by justifying this as the idol of Bikramaditya. Moreover, your dates given also do not match. I would suggest therefore to remove this article from the blogpost as it creates confusion.
